About Me
My name is Jenn David (duh-VEED). I’m a PhD Candidate in Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I also received my MA in Sociology in 2022.
Currently, I’m based in Los Angeles.
I study how creative professionals navigate cultural, political, and market changes. In my dissertation, I use a mix of qualitative methods to explore the production of simulated sex and intimate scenes in Hollywood.
I received my BA from the University of Chicago, where I double majored in Sociology and Gender & Sexuality Studies. After I graduated college, I spent a year in France where I hoped I’d become fluent in French (I didn’t) but I did go on a lot of nice runs through Paris and along the Mediterranean coast. Before entering academia, I worked in tech and market research in New York.
